Testimonials from teachers and librarians

We all counted ourselves very fortunate to have Mr Rutter present his drawing workshops to the students and teaching staff at our school. His tips and techniques for drawing and creating were greatly appreciated by students from years 5, 6 and 10.

Hi Paul, I just wanted to thank you for spending time with our students today. They thoroughly enjoyed the workshops & it was lovely to see such a spark of enthusiasm in the groups. Thank you for sharing your talent and encouraging our students to explore their own creative abilities.

Hi Paul, Thanks for bringing your drawing workshops to Christian Brothers College. The feedback from both students and teachers has been great, with everyone really enjoying getting involved.

Hi Paul, Thank you for running your drawing workshops at Woodcroft Primary. The teachers have all given excellent feedback on your sessions. The children loved their ocean character drawing exercises from your first activity book and they remained focused and engaged in their drawing. They were thoroughly entertained with your method of teaching. After your class the children spent an afternoon working on the animation exercises from your booklet. This left them with clear instructions on completing the activities and they were super motivated to spend time experimenting with their newly acquired drawing skills. We would like to have you back again at our school with your second activity book of drawing exercises focusing on Australian megafauna.

Year 5 teacher, Woodcroft Primary School

The students and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Paul. We loved watching him draw and having a go ourselves. The booklets are a great idea. His messages about conserving our biodiversity were certainly appreciated.

Paul visited the Victor Harbor Library to facilitate an illustration workshop, based around the theme of his book Surf Rider Joe. After the book reading, Paul gave the students an ‘Ocean Sea Creatures’ work book and guided the students through their own drawing of the characters from his storybook. The students loved the workshop and we have never seen every attendee so engaged in an activity.

G'day Paul,

Stoked to hear you're coming over again to visit our school. Our students loved you last year.

Paul worked with a group of Year 5 students in a fun-filled and creative drawing workshop. All ability ranges are catered through the use of his unique drawing books that provide frameworks for sketches whilst still allowing for students’ imaginative input. Paul was helpful, encouraging and both the class and their teachers were impressed with his skill as an artist.

Student correspondence

I was so inspired to receive this letter in the post from a young student who had attended my drawing class on Australian desert species, at Kalangadoo Primary School. During each school term of the year, I travel to visit many schools in selected regional areas throughout South Australia.
